Project Overview
Cutting-edge research facility
The Henry Royce Institute operates from an ultra-modern building at the University of Manchester. As the UK’s leading organisation for advanced materials research and innovation, the institute’s laboratories expand over nine floors totalling 5,000m², with a workforce of 650 people. With state-of-the-art equipment worth more than £150 million, it was important that all aspects of the laboratory including the lab furniture met the high standards and demands of the research laboratory environments.
Our long-standing customer S+B UK Ltd, was responsible for manufacturing all laboratory furniture in use at the Henry Royce Institute.

Trespa® TopLab® PLUS Solution
Project Overview
The laboratories at Henry Royce Institute must accommodate every different type of sciences - from nano printing to advanced material testing.
Trespa® TopLab® PLUS is manufactured with Trespa’s unique in-house EBC (Electron Beam Curing) technology. This is Trespa’s fast, nonthermal curing method which uses high-energy electrons at a controlled rate to cure the surface of Trespa® TopLab® PLUS, resulting in a smooth, closed surface structure.
Trespa® TopLab® PLUS proved invaluable in meeting important criteria in terms of durability, stability and resistance in all kinds of laboratory situations.
